These aerostatic linear slides are manufactured with a precision spindle drive mechanism combined with a high-resolution incremental encoder (Heinenhain) yielding exceptional positional accuracy with minimal jitter. The filtered air exhaust makes the units particularly suitable for clean room environments.

Since there isn’t any mechanical contact between the shaft and sleeve, such bearings are inherently protected against the effects of shock and vibration, and their ability to distribute even non-uniform loading separates them from the more susceptible mechanical variants.

The principle application area for such slides is for (multi) axis positioning of measurement machines.
